Deep Winter 2013

Last night we went to the Arc'teryx Deep Winter Photo Challenge at the Fairmont Chateau, Whistler. OMG! It was amazing! I have never been so stunned from the photographic talent of some people.

There were 6 photographers, who each had 3 days (Wednesday 16th - Saturday 19th Jan) to capture the essence of life in Whistler during the winter storm season (hence Deep Winter). It's been pretty sunny lately with little snow so it's more of a shallow winter, however the sun brought a beautiful element to the photos.

The photographers could only travel in bounds on the two mountains and the photos had to be taken during opening hours of the mountain. They each produced a 3-5 minute slideshow of their photos set to music, which is what we viewed last night.

My personal favourite was Reuben Krabbe. His photos were so surreal and time stopping. Krabbe has an incredible talent to capture difficult subjects and moments with such technical precision, yet with ease. Oh yeah, and to do this from scratch within 3 days is mind boggling! To have one of his photos on my wall to gasp at everyday would put a permanent smile on my face. Here are some of his photos from last night:

Simply amazing. Here is his actual slideshow video:
